Our Story
Lancaster Plant Hire was formed in 1960 by Colin Foster, a hardworking local man who believed in honest service, reliable machinery, and looking after people properly. Colin began with just a handful of machines, hiring them out to builders and farmers across Lancaster and the surrounding villages.
Word spread quickly. Colin’s straightforward approach — fair pricing, dependable equipment, and a willingness to help wherever he could — became the foundation of the business.
Today, Lancaster Plant Hire is proudly run by Colin’s grandson, Carl, who continues the same values his grandfather built the company on. The machinery has changed, the technology has improved, and the jobs have grown larger, but the heart of the business remains exactly the same: a local family supporting local builders.
